We met this wonderful family through a referral. Art and Cindy were looking to completely redesign the master bathroom, closets and makeup areas into a whole new configuration. They already had a layout in mind and, with only a few adjustments, together we changed several small spaces into a more open and usable design.
The tiny, outdated bathroom opened up into an airy spa bath! We used white Thermofoil cabinets for style and easy cleanup and a Swanstone counter with integrated white sinks. An air bubbler tub gave them both a place to relax and unwind.
Cindy and Art chose soft, warm color tiles with sea green glass accent tiles to keep with the “relaxing spa” theme. We built a custom tiled shower with a floating seat and recessed shelving. A handshower and grab bars added safety and convenience. With the accent tiles all the details were set off beautifully! Using a clear shower door made sure you could see the inside of the gorgeous shower! Matching tile continued onto the floor and the tub area keeping it all cohesive.
To make sure the room did not feel smaller we built the end wall for the tub as a half-wall, which also concealed the commode area. The half-wall was then capped with wood and moldings and painted to match all the trim.
Wall sconces at the vanity and a recessed light in the shower provided task and accent lighting. For comfort the exhaust fan/light combination also has a heat unit.
Where they used to have two standard closets they now have a walk-in closet with custom wood shelving she found online.
This was a fun, exciting project and with the teamwork of all parties, the final unveiling of the Master Bath and Bedroom was extremely rewarding!
Their next project will be the kitchen and we are looking forward to working together again.
